Brought my 2015 Mercedes C300 to The Auto Doc as they by far had the best price on diagnosing my coolant system problem. Price for diagnostics and the accuracy is top notch! A few little reasons i did not rate all 5 stars: 1) Diagnostics revealed a faulty thermostat and fan assembly. $1200 to replace thermostat and $1600 to replace fan (same as dealership). I called another shop (actually a few) just to get some feelers out there and the best i found quoted $698 (parts and labor, huge difference) to replace thermostat with the same warranty. Still decided to just attempt to do myself which brings me to point #2. 2) Dave is a great guy and very understanding and explains things well but when i informed him i would attempt myself, it was made out that the job was a pretty big ordeal and would require special tools and would likely run into issues and when i can't get it back together, almost no one will then be able to help since they didn't tear it apart. Aside from normal tools, the only thing semi-special was a torx and a female torx set (which if you do any kind of mechanics, you would already have these anyway). From opening the hood to starting the car back up took me just under 4 hours to get this job done. On the other hand, i love tearing into stuff so to an average person (probably most of the people that stop by) i can see why he would explain it this way. 3) I ended up buying the thermostat and gaskets from him since he was competitive on those. Only issue was that i was quoted: the thermostat assembly - $239 and (4) gaskets - $146. My negligence on not looking at the invoice prior to paying but the thermostat assembly charge was $255 and (4) gaskets - $160. Tax rolled into selling price? Possibly but then i was charged tax on top of that per the invoice. Then there was also a "water outlet gasket" - $12.92 added. Gasket packaging itself said water pump gasket (which i wasn't replacing the water pump). Maybe figured i needed it on the thermostat assembly? Thermostat assembly already had a gasket. So that was a little waste of money for me. End of the day - they can definitely figure out your problem and explain why it is needed. There just may be cheaper labor out there if you search hard enough or especially if you are mechanically inclined and like to take on a challenge. Car is back on the road now with no issues thanks to their diagnosis and supplying of the parts. Thanks Auto Doc!
Seth, Thanks for the opportunity to help you with your Mercedes Benz thermostat problem. I`m glad that you were able to get the problem repaired by yourself. You must have pretty good mechanical abilities if you were able to install the parts that you bought from us! My hats off to you. Also, thanks for the nice review. Owner- Dave
